Auto Repair Warranty in South Houston

A big repair bill can wreck a monthly budget. An auto repair warranty pays the shop for covered breakdowns so you are not stuck with the full cost. We explain what each plan covers, what it leaves out and how claims work, in plain words.

What an Auto Repair Warranty Actually Does

An auto repair warranty is a vehicle service contract. You pay for it up front or in monthly payments. When a covered part breaks, the plan pays the repair shop for that repair, minus any deductible your contract lists.

It is not the same as car insurance. Insurance pays for damage from crashes, weather or theft. A repair warranty pays for parts that fail on their own, like a water pump that quits or a transmission that starts slipping. Most drivers who buy one are tired of guessing what the next repair will cost.

It makes the most sense for cars, trucks and SUVs past the factory warranty, and for high-mileage vehicles where breakdowns get more likely. Plans like these have been backed by a track record of over $1 billion paid over 40 years. We help you pick the plan that fits your vehicle and your budget, and we tell you plainly when one is not worth it.

What a Repair Warranty Plan Can Include

Engine and transmission

These are the most expensive parts to fix. Most repair plans start here, covering internal parts like pistons, crankshafts, gears and the torque converter.

Cooling and fuel systems

Water pumps, radiators and fuel pumps fail more often on older vehicles. Higher plan levels usually list them by name.

Electrical and air conditioning

Alternators, starters, power window motors and A/C compressors. In a Texas summer, a dead compressor is not a small problem, so check whether your plan names it.

Steering, brakes and suspension parts

Some plans cover the power steering pump, brake master cylinder and certain suspension parts. Brake pads and rotors are usually treated as wear items and left out.

Roadside help

Plans can include roadside assistance covered under warranty. That means a tow or a jump start is part of the plan, not a separate bill on a bad day.

Signs a Repair Warranty Is Worth a Look

Your factory warranty ran out
Once it ends, every repair comes out of your pocket. A repair plan can pick up where the factory coverage stopped.
The odometer keeps climbing
High-mileage vehicles see more failures in seals, pumps and sensors. A plan spreads that risk into a set monthly payment.
One repair would hurt your budget
If a surprise transmission or engine bill would mean a credit card or skipping other bills, predictable payments may be the safer route.
You plan to keep the vehicle a while
Drivers who keep a car for years get the most use from a repair plan. If you are trading it in soon, we will tell you it may not pay off.
Your vehicle has known weak spots
Some models have common problems, like certain transmissions or A/C systems. Coverage for those parts can be worth more than it looks.

How Getting Covered Works

  1. 1

    Start with a phone call

Tell us the year, make, model and mileage of your vehicle. Let us know how you drive and what you can spend each month.

  2. 2

    We lay out the options

We explain each plan level side by side. You will hear which parts are covered, which are not, and what the deductible means at the shop.

  3. 3

Pick a plan and a payment

Choose the coverage that fits. Flexible payment options let you pay in a way that works for your budget. You can meet us at our office, or handle it by phone or video.

  4. 4

    Using it when something breaks

Take the vehicle to a repair shop, and the shop checks with the plan before work starts. Once a repair is approved, the plan pays the shop for the covered parts and labor. You pay any deductible.

What Moves the Price of a Repair Warranty

There is no single price for a repair plan. The cost depends on your vehicle and the coverage you pick. We go over each factor with you so the number makes sense before you agree to anything.

Vehicle age and mileage
Older, higher-mileage vehicles cost more to cover because parts are more likely to fail. Newer vehicles usually cost less.
Make and model
Some vehicles have pricier parts or more labor-heavy repairs. A luxury SUV or a diesel truck will usually cost more to cover than a basic sedan.
Plan level
A plan covering only the engine and transmission costs less than one listing hundreds of parts. More coverage means a higher price.
Deductible and term
A higher deductible per repair can lower your monthly payment. The length of the contract also changes the total.

Auto Repair Warranty Questions

Is an auto repair warranty the same as car insurance?
No. Car insurance covers damage from accidents, theft and weather. A repair warranty covers parts that break down from normal use. Many drivers have both because they pay for different problems.
Can I get coverage on a high-mileage vehicle?
Often, yes. Plans set limits on age and mileage, and those limits vary. Give us your mileage on the phone and we will tell you which plans your vehicle qualifies for.
What does a repair warranty not cover?
Most plans leave out wear items like brake pads, tires, wiper blades and oil changes. They also exclude damage from crashes or neglect. We read the exclusions list with you so nothing surprises you later.
Do I have to use a certain repair shop?
It depends on the plan. Some let you take the vehicle to the shop you already use, and others send you to a set list of shops. We will point out which kind each plan is before you choose.
How is this different from your other plans?
A repair warranty is about paying the shop when a part fails. Our Car Extended Warranty and Auto Protection Warranty pages explain how those plans differ in length and extras. If you are not sure which fits, we can compare all three on one call.
